Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a health problem that affects the joints and often occurs in the elderly, causing pain and stiffness. Age, genetics, gender, and trauma are causes of osteoarthritis. Early symptoms that may arise in osteoarthritis include joint pain and stiffness, which can interfere with daily activities. The occurrence of osteoarthritis problems in the elderly makes the family play an important role in providing self-care at home. The study aimed to provide family nursing care for Mr. A, specifically for Mrs. D, who has osteoarthritis problems in RT 003 RW 006, Pancoran Mas Village, Depok City, conducted over 6 days from March 2 to March 7, 2026. The research method used was a descriptive method with a case study type through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subject involved 1 family with an elderly member having osteoarthritis. The results of the study showed 2 nursing diagnoses obtained through subjective and objective data assessed during the assessment stage and the nursing scoring calculation, namely chronic pain related to physiological injury agents and impaired physical mobility related to joint stiffness. Nursing implementation provided to Mr. A's family, specifically to Mrs. D with osteoarthritis, was carried out as an effort to fulfill the five family health tasks, namely, the family can recognize problems, the family can make decisions, the family can care for sick family members, the family can modify the environment, and the family can use health facilities, conducted according to the nursing interventions that were arranged. In the acute pain problem, it was resolved as the pain experienced by Mrs. D decreased from a scale of 5 during assessment to a scale of 3 after non-pharmacological actions, which included a warm compress of boiled red ginger water. Meanwhile, in the impaired physical mobility problem, it was resolved as Mrs. D was able to perform Range Of Motion physical exercises independently. After each stage of nursing care was carried out, the results showed that both nursing problems were resolved, with the family able to fulfill the five family health tasks. This study is expected to help patients and families in managing and preventing osteoarthritis health problems. Keyword: Family Nursing Care, Osteoarthritis, Pain.
