Abstract

Office officials who work on computers or laptops, such as making reports, attending online meetings and scrambling documents with bad environmental conditions repeatedly can trigger symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome. The study aims to analyze factors associated with Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) symptoms in employees in state-owned company offices. The study uses a cross-sectional approach with a total population of 120 respondents. The research instruments used to obtain data, namely the CVS Questionnaire and the lux meter for lighting measurements. Analysis of Chi-square and Fisher Probability Exact Test results obtained 100 out of 120 employees (83.3%) using computers or laptops with symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between room lighting and CVS symptoms (p-value=6,192; 95% CI=1,924–19,929) and there was no relationship between age, gender, refractive abnormalities, duration of use of other exercises, working time, and duration using a computer or laptop with the symptoms of CVS (p-value=1, p-value=0,218, p-value=0,32, p-value=0,651, p-value=0,619, p-value=1).Therefore, the company is recommended to make improvements related to room lighting standards in accordance with applicable regulations.
