Abstract
Public consumption is a component of aggregate demand and aggregate supply. The components of public consumption will be a form of assessment in assessing the development of welfare levels from consumption behavior under certain conditions. Consumption behavior is part of long and short-term macroeconomics where consumption forms a business cycle that will affect short-term monetary policy and the decision to consume will determine interest rates, stock prices, and welfare in the long run. This study aims to look at the effect of consumer confidence index on interest rates, economic growth, IHSG, and exchange rates in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data with a quarterly period of 2005-2022 obtained through the Central Bureau of Statistics, Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority, and the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The test results using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) that (i) interest rates have no long-term influence but short-term influence on the consumer confidence index in Indonesia, (ii) economic growth has a long-term influence but no short-term influence on the consumer confidence index in Indonesia, (iii) IHSG has a long-term and short-term influence on the consumer confidence index in Indonesia, and (iv) the exchange rate has a long-term influence but no short-term influence on the consumer confidence index in Indonesia.
