Abstract
This study aims to analyze the extent to which the @totalpolitik Instagram account influences the political participation of Generation Z in the 2024 Presidential Election. The research adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method, with purposive sampling applied to 100 respondents from Generation Z who are active Instagram users and follow the @totalpolitik account. Two theoretical frameworks underpin this study: the Uses and Gratifications Theory by Katz, Blumler & Gurevitch, and the Social Mobilization Theory by Chadwick. The data analysis process was conducted through six stages: Validity Test, Reliability Test, Correlation Analysis, Simple Linear Regression, Coefficient of Determination, and Hypothesis Testing. The validity test results indicate that all questionnaire items are valid (r count > r table), while the reliability test produced Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.833 for variable X and 0.924 for variable Y, indicating high reliability. The correlation analysis shows a strong relationship between variables X and Y with a correlation coefficient of 0.712. Furthermore, the simple linear regression analysis demonstrates a positive and significant influence, with a significance value of 0.000, which is lower than 0.05. The coefficient of determination reveals that 50.7% of the variation in Generation Z’s political participation is influenced by the @totalpolitik account, while the remaining 49.3% is influenced by other factors not explained in this study. Based on the hypothesis testing results, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, indicating that the @totalpolitik account has a significant influence on the political participation of Generation Z.
