Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease often called a silent killer because it may occur without symptoms but can lead to serious complications. The high incidence of hypertension remains a health problem, including in the Depok area. Lack of family knowledge regarding healthy lifestyles is one of the contributing factors. This case study aimed to describe the implementation of family nursing care for Mrs. T with hypertension. The method used was a case study with a nursing process approach including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, observation, physical examination, and documentation. The results showed that the family had not been able to perform health maintenance functions optimally, resulting in nursing diagnoses of ineffective family health management and ineffective health maintenance. Interventions included health education and relaxation therapy. After nursing interventions, the client showed increased knowledge and felt more relaxed, although further assistance was still needed. In conclusion, family nursing care had a positive impact on hypertension management.
