Abstract
The number of investors in Indonesia has increased significantly, with nearly half consisting of Generation Z. However, this growth has not been accompanied by a proportional increase in participation in Sharia investment instruments, despite Indonesia having the world's largest Muslim population. This study aims to examine the factors influencing Generation Z's intention to invest in Sharia-compliant financial instruments, namely Islamic financial literacy and social media, with attitude serving as a mediating variable and financial self-efficacy as a moderating variable. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Likert-scale questionnaire. A total of 172 valid responses from Generation Z residing in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that Sharia investment intention is influenced not only directly by Islamic financial literacy and social media but also indirectly through the formation of a positive attitude. In addition, financial self-efficacy strengthens the relationship between attitude and Sharia investment intention. These findings imply that efforts to increase Generation Z's participation in Sharia investment should not only enhance financial literacy but also foster positive attitudes and strengthen financial self-efficacy through credible educational programs, thereby encouraging greater participation in Indonesia's Sharia capital market.
