Abstract
Background: The elderly face a variety of changes to their physical, mental and social characteristics, which can lead to limitations and lower their quality of life. Quality of life in the elderly varies widely, depending on how individuals assess various aspects of their lives, reflecting differences in their individual characteristics and strengths. Purpose: To determine the description of quality of life in the elderly at Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 1 Social Home. Design: A cross-sectional approach with a quantitative descriptive design was used in this study which was based on the results of measuring quality of life using the WHOQOL-Bref questionnaire. The total sampling method was used to collect the study sample, which consisted of 82 respondents, who were selected according to the predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Result: The results showed that characteristics such as age, gender, latest education, previous occupation and marital status affect the quality of life of the elderly. Conclusion: From the characteristics of age, gender, latest education, previous occupation, and marital status, most of the elderly have a moderate quality of life. However, the quality of life of the elderly also varies based on how they perceive their own quality of life. Keywords: Elderly; Quality of Life; WHOQOL-Bref
