Abstract

Papua Province faces a number of major challenges in education, including low quality of education, a shortage of qualified teaching staff, and limited educational facilities. In addition, early childhood participation in education is still very low, due to a lack of information and educational services in remote areas. All of this shows the urgent need to improve the quality and equity of education in Papua. This research was conducted to understand how UNICEF and the Indonesian government are collaborating in improving the quality of education in Papua province through the Rural and Remote Education and Initiative for Papuan Provinces 2020-2022 program as a form of SDGs 4 This research also uses the theory of International Cooperation by Robert Keohane. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method sourced from literature study. The final results of the research show that cooperation between Indonesia and UNICEF is carried out through the implementation of the Rural and Remote Education and Initiative for Papuan Provinces program in an effort to improve the quality of education in Papua province which involves various parties, creating synergy between policies, local practices and international support.
