Abstract

Medicine is one of the demanding college majors that affects the pressure and stress received by students. The role of resilience has been proven to reduce psychological stress among medical students. Parenting is one of the factors that affects the formation of resilience in emerging adulthood (18-25 years). The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of parental parenting on students' academic resilience. Respondents were taken from students of the UPN Veteran Jakarta Bachelor of Medicine Study Program with a stratified random sampling method divided into 64 students from the 2021, 2022, and 2023 batches. The questionnaire uses the Parenting Styles and Dimension Questionnaire (PSDQ) to assess parenting styles, which consist of four types of parenting, permissive, neglected, and authoritative based on students' perceptions of their parents' parenting styles and Academic Resilience Scale questionnaire (ARS-30) for access academic resilience quality among medical student. Cross-sectional descriptive analytical used as research design. Analysis of the logistic regression alternative test showed that there was a significant relationship between the parenting style of the father and the level of academic resilience of students (significancy < 0.05, i.e. 0.000) and there was no significant relationship between the parenting style of the mother and the level of academic resilience of students (significancy value>0.05, i.e. 0.451).
