Abstract

Films have the ability and power to reach social corners, so they have the potential to influence people's views with the messages they contain. This is because films become imitations of social reality. Reality recordings immortalized in film grow and develop in people's lives by carrying ideas, messages, and ideologies which are then conveyed to the wider community. The purpose of this research is to find out about the representation of moral values in films (John Fiske's analysis in the film "Budi Pekerti"). The research method used is qualitative research with a semiotic approach. The object of this research is the film "Budi Pekerti". Data analysis will be carried out using John Fiske's semiotic approach, which involves the realistic level, symbolic level, and ideological level. The research results show that the film "Budi Pekerti" succeeds in deeply representing moral values through a series of scenes that show honesty, responsibility, mutual help, cooperation, compassion, togetherness, and positive thinking. So it is hoped that the film "Educational Character" can be used as teaching material in character education in schools to teach moral values to students. Through discussion and analysis of the film, students can better understand the importance of these values in everyday life. Keywords: Moral Values, Representation, Semiotics John Fiske
