Abstract

The current popularity of the social media platform TikTok is being utilized as a means of self-disclosure through comments. This is because TikTok presents various content related to everyday life. TikTok creator @hey.tessss is known for creating content related to life problems. This research aims to determine the extend of the influence of using the TikTok social media platform @hey.tesss (variable X) on the self-disclosure of followers (variable Y). The theory used in this research is the uses and gratification theory. The research method used is quantitative explanatory. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, with the population consisting of followers of the TikTok account @hey.tessss, resulting in a sample size of 100 respondents based on Slovin's formula. The results of the coefficient of determination test indicate that 46.3% of followers' self disclosure is influenced by the use of TikTok @hey.tessss, while the remaining 53.7% is influenced by factors outside this research. The results of the simple linear regression test and hypothesis testing show a significant effect between variable X and variable Y, indicating that an increase in the use of TikTok @hey.tessss (X) leads to an increase in self-disclosure among followers (Y).
