Abstract
SAStunting is an urgent global issue resulting from malnutrition experienced by toddlers, beginning from the prenatal period until birth, with symptoms usually appearing when toddlers reach the age of two. Stunting can also lead to reduced cognitive functions, such as lower intelligence and thinking abilities. The causes of stunting are attributed to nutritional deficiencies since pregnancy. Families play a crucial role in addressing stunting in toddlers by ensuring the fulfillment of family members' needs, providing physical and emotional care, and assisting in personality development. Families actively performing health duties significantly influence behavioral changes to prevent stunting. This study aims to identify the relationship between maternal characteristics and family health duties with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Limo Village, Depok. The research employs an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional study design, involving 211 mothers with toddlers in Limo Village as the sample. Based on the Chi-Square test results, a significant relationship was found between maternal age and stunting incidence in toddlers (p=0.038). However, there was no significant relationship between the number of children and stunting incidence (p=0.899). Furthermore, the analysis revealed significant relationships between the mother's last education level (p=0.027) and employment status (p=0.033) with the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The study also found that all stages of family health duties were significantly associated with stunting incidence in toddlers (p<0.05), and a significant relationship was found between the total value of the ability to perform family health duties and stunting incidence (p=0.011). These findings emphasize the need for comprehensive family-based interventions to address the issue of stunting in toddlers.
