Abstract

Health service utilization is very important for the community to improve public health. The low utilization of health services indicates problems regarding the coverage of health services based on visits to the Puskesmas and is something that needs to be considered to ensure that service utilization is achieved. This study aims to analyze the determinants associated with the utilization of health services. This study used a quantitative method of cross sectional study design. Data analysis was carried out univariate, bivariate with chi square, and multivariate with logistic regression. The results showed a significant relationship between age (P = 0.006), education level (P= 0.000), knowledge (P= 0.001), and perception of illness (P=0.040). Meanwhile, gender, occupation, health insurance ownership, and distance traveled were found to have no significant association. This study found that education level was the dominant variable for health service utilization with an OR = 5.153 (95% CI: 2.429 - 10.93), meaning that a person with a high level of education (high school - college) had a 5 times greater chance of utilizing health services. Health centers are expected to increase performance and service quality so as to maximize the implementation of health services at Puskesmas Pedurenan.
