Abstract

The Korean popular culture trend "Hallyu" or what is known as the Korean Wave has become a very popular cultural phenomenon in Indonesia, one of them is Korean drama. In mid-2023, Korean drama fans be presented with a variety of Korean drama shows available on streaming platforms in various genres, one of things is the Korean drama Celebrity. This drama tells about the world of top celebrities or influencers in South Korea, starting from the behind-the-scenes life of an influencer, the challenges experienced, intense competition between influencers, high public expectations to personal conflicts that arise along with increasing popularity on social media. This research aims to find out and analyze how much influence the message content of the Korean drama Celebrity has on followers trust through a survey conducted on followers of the Instagram account @sunnydahye. The theory used in this research is the persuasive communication theory Elaboration Likelihood Theory. The method used is explanatory quantitative with data collection techniques through online questionnaires distributed to respondents who meet the research criteria, namely watching the Korean drama Celebrity and Instagram followers @sunnydahye with a sample of 100 respondents. The test results from this research show that there is a strong relationship between the message content variable of the Korean drama Celebrity and the follower trust variable with a regression coefficient value of 0.593 which shows the results of this research are positive. The results of the coefficient of determination test showed a result of 48.7%, and the results of the hypothesis test using the t test showed that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected.
