Abstract

This study discusses the role of the British Council in fostering cultural cooperation through its program "Connection Through Culture" (CTC) for the years 2022- 2023. The research employs a qualitative approach, focusing on the concepts of cultural cooperation and public bodies. The findings indicate that the British Council has played a significant role in the cultural relationship dynamics between the UK and Indonesia. Through its initiative program, CTC, the British Council has greatly contributed to international collaboration between cultural actors, institutions, and communities in the UK and Indonesia. The British Council provides financial assistance of up to GBP 10,000 to artists and cultural practitioners; evaluates project impact based on partnerships, management, relevance, and quality; supports communication and data protection; and enhances the international reputation and visibility of grant recipients through cross-country collaboration, including partnerships with Indonesia's Ministry of Education and Culture in the "Dana Indonesiana" scheme. The support and role provided by the British Council in this program represent a strategic step towards achieving its objective of promoting cultural relations between the people of the UK and other countries.
