Abstract
Korean dramas are a means of spreading K-Wave in Indonesia and continue to gain popularity and are loved by Indonesian people. One of the popular Korean dramas in 2022 is the Korean drama entitled Extraordinary Attorney Woo. This drama tells the story of a lawyer named Woo Young Woo who has autism. The representation of autism on television is still not accurate in depicting people with autism and still places people with autism as marginalized groups. This phenomenon closely related to the stereotypes given by society whose awareness of autism is still low to people with autism. This research aims to determine the influence of media exposure to the Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo on audience perceptions about autism. The theory used in this research is the Uses and Effect theory. This research method is quantitative with a survey method. The population in this study were followers of the Twitter/X account @kdrama_menfess and viewers of the Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo with a sample of 200 respondents. The results showed a low correlation between variable X and variable Y, the results also showed that there was no influence of exposure to the Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo on the audience's perception of autism. This result was caused by several factors such as the many neutral answers found, the demographics of respondents not representing the demographics of viewers of the Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, concern about the issue of autism also tends to exist among parents.
