Abstract

In 2023, the Indonesian government implemented the Work From Home policy to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This policy allows people to work from home, using the advancements in communication technology to stay connected even without meeting in person. The implementation of the Work From Home policy at PT. Asuransi Candi Utama faced numerous obstacles that led to urgent responses and actions from the Brokers. These obstacles were related to interpersonal communication, where the inability and limitations of individuals to build effective communication caused problems. This research used the Participant Observation method, based on incidents arising from the issues experienced during daily activities while working from home. Data was collected through interviews. Communication is a form of presenting basic stimuli, both linguistic and non-linguistic, to influence the behavior of others. Communication during the Covid-19 pandemic heavily relies on virtual communication. Technical barriers occurred, such as emails being frequently undelivered to their intended recipients. Semantic barriers were also present, with many errors in writing emails using inappropriate sentences or language. Psychological barriers emerged as well, as the reactions received from different individuals varied depending on how they understood the information. When language usage was not appropriate and individuals faced different psychological conditions, communication barriers became more pronounced.
