Abstract
This study aims to discuss related to a depiction of patriarchal culture in a film that will be analyzed by using semiotic theory Roland Bathes in the search for the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods using primary and secondary data sources involving pieces of images from the film Yuni if it contains elements of patriarchal culture in it. Other research data collection is also carried out by interviewing informants who are experts in the field of cinematography to see how people who are experts in cinematography see the meaning in Yuni films. The results obtained in this study are the meanings resulting from the stages in Roland Barthes semiotic analysis related to the representation of patriarchal culture in Yuni films. Yuni film managed to provide the reality experienced by many women in Indonesia, especially in Banten which concerns about gender inequality, discrimination, and the double burden that is part of the patriarchal culture. Film Yuni managed to give an idea of how women are considered in society and how the space given by society to women who are limited by their gender.
