Abstract

Lack of personal hygiene during menstruation in adolescents can cause problems such as cervical cancer which has reached 36,633 cases and second highest cancer in Indonesia in 2022. The aim of the research is to find out the differences before and after personal hygiene education during menstruation using video media. Preparations began in October 2022 until January 2023. This research used the Pre Experimental method with the instrument in the form of a menstrual knowledge questionnaire with a valid number of 12 questions and using video media. Video is used because it increase the delivery of information 6x more effectively than verbal or visual media alone and individual memory of the information received can reach 65%. The study population was female members of PMR with a total of 40 female students. The sampling method used purposive sampling and obtained the number of respondents as 40 students with the criteria of being active PMR members and willing to be research respondents. Data analysis in this study used the Wilcoxon Test. The test results showed that there were differences in knowledge before and after education (p-value = 0.000) with a mean score before education is 59.85% to 92.45% after education.
