Abstract
This study purpose to determine the relationship between body mass index with static balance in elderly. The background for writing this scientific paper is be-cause every year 30% of the elderly have experienced a fall where the impact of the fall causes minor injuries to serious injury. In addition, with increasing age a person will experience a decrease in muscle mass and facilitate the accumulation of fat in the body. Accordingly that authors assume that studies related to the re-lationship between the two words need to be analyzed. To find out this relation-ship, author used quantitative methods and used the one leg stance test as a meas-uring instrument to assess static balance in elderly. The population used in this study was the elderly who were registered at the Kalimatunsawa Indonesia Foun-dation, Bekasi. Besides that, the time of the research was carried out on 3-4 July 2021 and took place at each respondent’s house. The results of his study show the correlation coefficient of the spearman’s rho body mass index variable with a value p=1 and the one leg stance test variable with open eye with a value p=0.069. Based on the results of the study, author concluded that there was no relationship between body mass index with static balance in elderly.
