Abstract

This research aims to determine the extent of the influence of the social media account X @aniesbubble on the political participation of first-time voters in the 2024 presidential election by applying political participation theory and new media theory. The research method used is a quantitative research method with sampling techniques conducted using purposive sampling. In analyzing the data, the author used Pearson correlation analysis, simple regression analysis, hypothesis testing using the T-test, and the coefficient of determination. Data collection for this study involved distributing a digital questionnaire to 101 respondents who were first-time voters and followers of the X @aniesbubble account. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant and positive influence of the X @aniesbubble social media account on the political participation of first-time voters in the 2024 presidential election. The X @aniesbubble social media account influences the political participation of first-time voters by 45.4%, as measured using the coefficient of determination. First-time voters who follow the X @aniesbubble account are more likely to be motivated to actively engage in political participation through various activities, such as political discussions facilitated by the X @aniesbubble account, political campaigns, exercising their right to vote, joining political parties, and participating in demonstrations leading up to the 2024 presidential election. This study concludes that the X account @aniesbubble has an influence on the political participation of first-time voters in the 2024 presidential election.
