Abstract

With the assistance of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), academic institutions such as schools have become increasingly important in providing accurate information, good accessibility, and satisfying experiences for users in publishing academic and non-academic information related to their websites. One example of HCI implementation can be found in the website of SMA Negeri 37 Jakarta. In its usage, there are various different experiences, hence this research aims to analyze and improve the usability level of SMA Negeri 37 Jakarta website using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method and applying the User-Centered Design (UCD) method in interface redesign. The research stages include literature review, problem identification, analysis of the current system, SUS testing of the current system, followed by UCD implementation by determining user context, usage and organizational needs, designing solution concepts, and evaluating the redesigned interface using SUS, until the report preparation. The study population consists of students, teachers, staff, and alumni of SMA Negeri 37 Jakarta. Data collection is conducted through SUS questionnaires distributed to website users. The initial SUS questionnaire results showed a usability score of 42.63. Based on these findings, a redesign of the interface was carried out using the UCD method. After implementing the changes, the SUS questionnaire was redistributed, resulting in a usability score of 93.03, indicating a significant improvement of 50.40 or 118.26%. These results demonstrate that the redesign of the website interface successfully enhances the overall usability level.
