Abstract

Traditional Health is a process of care or treatment by utilizing technical skills, natural ingredients or a combination of both to obtain an optimal degree of health. Traditional health program continues to develop from time to time and has long been recognized by the public. In the previous study, it was found that the majority of students chose to do self-medication. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between traditional health knowledge and treatment-seeking behavior among health students. This research is a quantitative study with cross sectional research design. Data analysis using chi square test. The population in this study were all students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta with a sample size of 320 students who were taken using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected by filling out a questionnaire by the respondents. The results of this study indicate that students who have sufficient and good knowledge of traditional health are 47.8%. The treatment seeking behavior chosen by the majority of students was self-medication at 45.9%. The result in this study, it is known that there is a relationship between knowledge (p = 0.017), age (p = 0.003), culture (p = 0.043) and experience (p = 0.002) with treatment-seeking behavior among health students. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and students' health seeking behavior. It is hoped that traditional health can improve the health status of local communities.
