Abstract

Indonesia is currently undergoing rapid population aging, coupled with a rising prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM). With 19.5 million patients in 2021, Indonesia ranks fifth globally. Elderly Diabetes Mellitus patients often face significant physical and psychosocial challenges, yet Diabetes Mellitus management in the country frequently overlooks psychological resilience, which is vital for the successful management of chronic disease. This investigation aimed to examine the correlation family support with psychological resilience among elderly with Diabetes Melitus in Pondok Jaya neighborhood. This quantitative study utilized a cross-sectional design with an analytic correlational survey approach. Purposive sampling was used, involving 245 elderly patients. Data was gathered via the Family Support Scale (FSS) questionnaire to evaluate family support also an adapted version of the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) to evaluate psychological resilience. And were analyzed through bivariate also univariate analyses using the Chi-Square test. The findings indicate a significant correlation family support with psychological resilience in elderly DM patients (p-value < 0.001). This study concludes that there is a significant correlation family support with psychological resilience among elderly patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Pondok Jaya Neighborhood.
