Abstract

The increasing number of young voters in Indonesia has become a significant phenomenon shaping the outcome of the 2024–2029 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. Despite their dominance, this group faces challenges regarding low levels of political participation. This quantitative study, employing a causal-comparative design, aims to identify the influence of work programs and personal branding on the political participation of young voters in the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. Data collection was conducted via questionnaires administered to a sample size calculated a priori using G*Power 3.1 software. Based on a MANOVA test analysis with an effect size of 0.25 and a power of 0.80, a minimum sample of 120 respondents was obtained and proportionally distributed across Jakarta's five administrative cities using stratified block randomization. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis with dummy variables indicate that work programs and personal branding do not exert a partially significant influence on political participation. Nevertheless, both variables, along with their interaction, proved to have a simultaneously significant effect on young voters' political participation. These findings underscore that the political behavior of the younger generation is multidimensional, blending rational and emotional considerations. Consequently, an integrated approach combining policy substance with adaptive political marketing strategies in the digital public sphere is pivotal to enhancing young voters' political participation in urban areas.
