Abstract
Flooding is a recurring disaster in Larangan District, Tangerang City, making public communication essential in delivering information to the community. This study aims to identify the public communication gap of the Tangerang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in flood management in Larangan District. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed involving 100 respondents selected through cluster sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, while the findings were interpreted through the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT). The results indicate that the BPBD's public communication remains in the low category, revealing the existence of a public communication gap with the community in flood management. Based on SCCT, the implementation of crisis communication has not fully established communication credibility, optimized crisis communication management, or fulfilled communication responsibility toward the community during flood management.
