Abstract
The creation of the documentary film titled “The Life-Giving Current: From Mud to Metal” was conceived through the application of a documentary form based on the realistic portrayal of the lives of metal prospectors working in the informal sector under vulnerable conditions, ensuring that every recorded event accurately reflects the subjects’ actual circumstances. The observational method was chosen as the methodological foundation because it allows the camera to function as a tool for genuine observation, without dramatic direction, while the expository approach serves to deepen the audience’s understanding of the topic through narrative, data, and interviews; its exploratory nature is applied to open up possibilities for discovering new narrative structures. The film highlights the health and workplace safety challenges faced by metal miners as a reflection of the importance of SDGs 3 and 8. In the production of this documentary, the filmmaker served as both producer and sound designer. The producer was responsible for leading and managing the entire creative and production process to shape the story’s development as a whole, while the sound designer was responsible for the entire sound design concept.
