Abstract
Background: Pregnancy is a natural and physiological process. The pregnancy period starts from conception until the birth of the baby. Every pregnant woman will experience a process of adjusting the body to pregnancy according to the stage of the trimester being experienced. One of the symptoms that often arise during pregnancy is excessive nausea and vomiting or known as hyperemesis gravidarum. Purpose: This case study aims to provide nursing care to first trimester pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum in the inpatient room of South Tangerang General Hospital. Methods: This study was designed using a case study method in implementing dryness conservation in Mrs. S with moderate hyperemesis gravidarum in the first trimester of pregnancy. Data collection was carried out by means of interviews, observations and physical examinations. Results: in this case study the author carried out Hypovolemia management including monitoring fluid intake and output, risk nutritional deficits planned to consume fruits and vegetables, discomfort disorders including PUQE value assessment and knowledge deficits planned to provide education about hyperemesis gravidarum. Conclusion: This case study found that the care provided to pregnant women for 3 days successfully achieved its objectives and resolved the problems with outcome criteria such as improved nutritional and fluid needs, weight gain, decreased nausea and vomiting, and increased insight into hyperemesis gravidarum. Therefore, pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum should be immediately hospitalized for immediate treatment because if not, it can save the condition of the mother and fetus due to loss of nutrition and fluids.
