Abstract

Stunting is a condition of growth failure in toddlers that occurs due to chronic malnutrition over a long period of time, one of which is influenced by low knowledge and behaviour of parents in meeting their children's nutritional needs. Prevention efforts require an educational approach and attractive forms of stimulation so that families can understand the information well and play an active role in supporting their children's growth and development. This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of using the educational Snakes and Ladders game and Tuina massage in increasing mothers' knowledge and encouraging behavioural changes in families in preventing stunting in toddlers. The research method used a descriptive design with an eight-day intervention in two families in Kramat Jati Village, East Jakarta. The educational snake and ladder game intervention was provided to strengthen mothers' knowledge about stunting prevention, while Tuina massage was used as physiological stimulation to increase children's appetite and optimise nutrient absorption. The results showed an increase in mothers' knowledge and attitudes towards stunting prevention, accompanied by an increase in toddler weight from 12.8 kg to 13.9 kg and from 11.5 kg to 12 kg after eight days of intervention. Thus, the combination of the educational Snakes and Ladders game and Tuina massage proved effective in improving knowledge, positive attitudes, and children's nutritional status, making it a viable evidence based intervention in stunting prevention efforts at the family level.
