Abstract

This study is based on the phenomenon of strict parenting patterns that affect communication within families, particularly for female adolescents. Parenting that emphasizes control and obedience often shapes different communication ex-periences for children, yet it has not been widely studied from the perspective of female adolescents. This study focuses on how female adolescents understand family communication with strict parents. The research involved in-depth inter-views with female adolescents raised in families with strict parents. The Family Communication Patterns Theory (FCPT), proposed by Fitzpatrick and Koerner, was used for data analysis. FCPT includes two main dimensions: conversation orientation and conformity orientation. The research results show that the communication pattern of families with strict parents tends to be characterized by a low conversation orientation and a high conformity orientation. Communication in this pattern is hierarchical and one-way, emphasizing adherence to family rules. The family's communication pattern of the informant is classified as a protective type based on FCPT analysis. The communication experiences of adolescent girls, their emotional reactions, and their adaptive communication strategies are influenced by this communication pattern.
