Abstract

This study employs a quantitative research design aimed at identifying, systematically analyzing, and empirically testing the influence of Uya Kuya’s popularity on the political participation of first-time voters in the DKI Jakarta 2 Electoral District. The DKI Jakarta 2 Electoral District is one of the national legislative constituencies encompassing Central Jakarta and South Jakarta, characterized by a heterogeneous electorate in terms of social, economic, and educational backgrounds, making it a strategic and highly competitive area for political parties and legislative candidates. The population of this study consists of first-time voters in the DKI Jakarta 2 Electoral District. The sample size was set at 100 respondents, selected using a non-probability sampling method with a purposive sampling technique, where by respondents were chosen based on specific criteria relevant to the research objectives. Data were collected through the distribution of an online questionnaire using Google Forms to ensure accessibility and efficiency in data collection. The collected data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Descriptive analysis was employed to describe respondents’ characteristics, while inferential analysis was conducted to examine the relationships among research variables using the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach, processed with SmartPLS 4 software. All constructs of each variable in this study met the criteria for validity and reliability. The findings indicate that Uya Kuya’s popularity has a significant effect on the political participation of first-time voters in the DKI Jakarta II Electoral District
