Abstract

Prediabetes is a condition where blood glucose levels exceed the normoglycemia criteria, but do not meet the criteria for diabetes. Nurses are a group that is vulnerable to prediabetes due to the characteristics of their work, such as the implementation of a shift work system, high workload, and pressure that can trigger stress. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of prediabetes at Hospital X in 2025. The study design employed a cross-sectional approach, with primary data sources comprising questionnaires and secondary data sources including medical check-up reports from 2025. The study population was all nurses at Hospital X, with a sample size of 82 nurses selected using a purposive sampling technique. The prevalence of prediabetes among nurses at Hospital X was 20.7%. The results of multivariate analysis showed that body mass index (POR = 5.071, 95% CI: 1.464 – 17.569) and hypertension (POR = 7.418, 95% CI: 2.058 – 26.735) were significantly associated with the incidence of prediabetes in nurses at Hospital X. The hospital is expected to strengthen occupational health programs with a focus on preventing metabolic health disorders, such as regular metabolic health screening and weight control programs.
