Abstract
Previous study indicates that up to 40.5% of academic stress may be explained by the extent of AI-based chatbot usage, which could subsequently influence quality of life. Despite this, studies directly examining the relationship between chatbot use and quality of life remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the association between the intensity of AI-based chatbot use and quality of life among the Faculty of Medicine students of the UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, class of 2022. A study with cross-sectional design was conducted, involving 37 students selected through simple random sampling. Chatbot use intensity was measured based on frequency and duration of use, while quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. The relationship between variables was analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. The results showed no significant correlation between the intensity of AI-based chatbot use and overall quality of life (r = -0.155, p = 0.359) or in all domains, including physical health (r = −0.072; p = 0.674), psychological well-being (r = −0.070; p = 0.682), social relationships (r = −0.283; p = 0.090), and environmental domain (r = −0.071; p = 0.676). In conclusion, the findings suggest that the intensity of AI-based chatbot use is not significantly associated with quality of life among medical students. This indicates that students’ quality of life is likely influenced by multiple factors beyond chatbot use alone.
