Abstract
Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem in children under two years old, influenced by various factors such as exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding (CF), and maternal knowledge about CF during the first 1,000 days of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, CF practices, and maternal knowledge of CF with stunting incidence among children aged 6–23 months in Bojongsari District. A cross-sectional design was used, involving 147 mothers of children aged 6–23 months selected through purposive sampling. The proportions of children who received exclusive breastfeeding, appropriate CF (frequency, amount, and diversity), and mothers with good CF knowledge were 56.5%, 83%, 54.4%, 86.4%, and 34.7%, respectively. Chi-square test analysis showed a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.025) and maternal knowledge of CF (p = 0.043) with stunting. However, the frequency (p = 0.352), amount (p = 0.116), and diversity (p = 0.645) of CF showed no significant relationship. It can be concluded that exclusive breastfeeding and maternal knowledge of CF are significantly associated with stunting among children aged 6–23 months in Bojongsari District, while CF-related parameters such as frequency, amount, and diversity are not significantly related.
