Abstract
This paper aims to understand the issue of gender equality in American films through film observation using gender as a perspective in international relations. Qualitative research method with research objects Captain Marvel (2019), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) and Reign of Superwomen (2021) as films that contain representations of gender issues in American films for the period 2019-2021. In this case, the researcher uses document analysis collection techniques, visual analysis, and semiotics. Gender studies and film theory have provided a valuable framework for analyzing gender representation in films and understanding their cultural significance. The construction of masculinity and femininity in the United States is based on the feminist theory of gender equality which states that knowledge is not something objective, but is influenced by the experiences of each individual, where it believes that women have a unique perspective that can reveal social injustice and power dynamics. Based on the issue of gender violence that occurs in American society related to the work environment, education, health, and other social fields, it encourages social movements that are expressed in the perspectives and perspectives of women who act behind the scenes of filmmaking in the United States that include women's experiences related to gender social injustice.
