Abstract

This study examines the political communication strategies employed by presidential and vice-presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in building and increasing their voter base among Generation Z during the 2024 presidential election campaign. The issue addressed focuses on how these communication strategies were designed and implemented to reach young voters, known as digital natives, who possess unique communication characteristics in the era of social media. The objective of this study is to analyze the digital political communication approach of the Prabowo-Gibran pair in increasing the number of votes among Generation Z. This study also aims to contribute academically to the development of political communication theory and provide practical insights for political actors in designing relevant digital-based campaigns. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with relevant sources and analysis of digital documents and social media. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the political communication strategy implemented by the Prabowo-Gibran pair on social media successfully increased the electability of the Prabowo-Gibran pair among young voters, as evidenced by various survey results. This study contributes to the development of political communication theory by demonstrating how digital strategies can build political image and increase electability among young voters in the social media era.
