Abstract

Participatory development of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is essential for effective project management, particularly in large-scale construction projects such as the Dharmais Hospital. This study aims to analyze the objective factors influencing the participatory preparation of WBS and to identify how these factors are related to project implementation effectiveness. A qualitative approach with a positivistic paradigm was adopted, utilizing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis was conducted, supported by data triangulation. The results reveal four main objective factors influencing WBS development: project organizational structure, internal communication systems, use of information technology (BIM and ERP), and company procedural standards. High stakeholder participation in WBS development positively impacts project planning and control quality. These findings contribute theoretically to evidence-based project management and offer practical recommendations for improving WBS formulation in future projects.
