Abstract

Pain in critically ill patients in the ICU can occur during rest or routine procedures, which may affect physiological parameters. Classical music therapy is a complementary therapy that utilizes classical music to improve the health condition of critically ill patients. This study aims to evaluate the effect of classical music therapy on pain levels and physiological parameters, including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature, and mean arterial pressure in patients with decreased consciousness in the ICU. The method used is a case report study with a nursing care approach involving two respondents as managed and resume patients. The results of this case study showed a decrease in pain based on the CPOT scale and improvements in physiological parameters after the administration of classical music therapy in both the managed and resume patients. The use of classical music therapy is expected to become an effective adjunct therapy to support pharmacological treatment in patients with decreased consciousness in the ICU.
