Abstract

Anemia is a common nutritional problem among female adolescent. One of the causes is lack of knowledge about anemia, which leads to unmet nutritional needs. Therefore, efforts are needed to prevent anemia in female adolescent by providing nutritional education. Nutritional education requires interesting educational media to make the delivery of information more engaging and easy to understand. The media used in this study were monopoly and comics. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nutritional education through monopoly and comic games on knowledge about anemia in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 6 Depok. This research was a quasi-experimental study with a two-group pretest-posttest design and involved 78 female students of class X and XI who were selected by stratified random sampling technique. Data collection was done by using a questionnaire. There were differences in the pre-test and post-test knowledge of respondents before and after being given nutritional education with monopoly (p=0.000) and comics (p=0.000) and there was no difference in the effectiveness of nutritional education with monopoly and comic media on the knowledge of respondents (p=0.370). It can be concluded that providing nutritional education through monopoly and comic media can increase knowledge about anemia in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 6 Depok.
