Abstract
Hypertension accounts for the bulk of global mortality and illnesses. Roasted garlic and regular deep breathing lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Puskesmas Gang Kelor in Bogor City. In a quasi-experimental approach, 56 participants were allocated into intervention and control groups, with each group comprising 28 persons. The intervention group got 4-6 grammes of roasted garlic, practiced slow deep breathing, and were prescribed hypertension medicine for 30 days. The control group received just pharmaceutical intervention. Sphygmomanometers measured blood pressure before and after the intervention. Allicin in garlic promotes vasodilation and inhibits the ACE enzyme, whereas slow deep breathing activates parasympathetic neurones. This combo therapy lowers blood pressure more efficiently than pharmaceutical treatment. Research demonstrates that the intervention group displayed a greater initial systolic blood pressure (163.32 mmHg) than the control group (148.21 mmHg). The intervention group experienced a reduction in systolic blood pressure of 8.57 mmHg, compared to a reduction of 3.68 mmHg in the control group, yielding a difference of 10.21 mmHg (p < 0.001). The intervention group demonstrated a greater initial diastolic pressure (99.60 mmHg versus 96.21 mmHg), however a subsequent decrease occurred. Roasted garlic, regular deep breathing, and antihypertensive medicine effectively reduce blood pressure.
