Abstract
Indonesia is a country that has a tropical climate so temperatures are quite high in Indonesia. Dehydration can be caused by hot environmental temperatures because the environment is hot which causes sweat to come out in quite large quantities. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical workload and environmental temperature and symptoms of dehydration in laundry workers in South Jakarta. The population of this research is all laundry workers in South Jakarta. The total sample in this study was 88 people with a cross-sectional study design. The factors in this study consisted of physical workload, environmental temperature, age, gender, and nutritional status. The statistical analysis used in this research is bivariate analysis, namely chi-square. The research results showed that of the 88 respondents, 48 people (54.5%) experienced symptoms of severe dehydration. Factors associated with symptoms of dehydration include environmental temperature (p=0.016), gender (p=0.017), and nutritional status (p=0.001). Meanwhile, physical workload and age did not show any relationship with symptoms of dehydration. Therefore, it can be concluded that the factors associated with symptoms of dehydration in laundry workers in South Jakarta are environmental temperature, gender, and nutritional status.
