Abstract

Construction workers are one of the workers at risk of experiencing neck pain symptoms. Of the 11 construction workers at PT X, all of them performed risky activities and more than half of them complained of neck pain symptoms. The purpose of this study was to analyze what factors can be associated with neck pain. This study used a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were 81 construction workers of PT X and all of them became respondents in this study. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using the chi square test and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that 46 of 81 workers (56.8%) experienced neck pain complaints. There was a significant relationship between high risk work posture (p=0.000), very high risk work posture (p=0.005), and job demands (p=0.005) with neck pain complaints. This study found that physical risk factors, work posture is the most dominant factor affecting neck pain symptoms. It is recommended that companies implement stretching rules every two hours and pay attention to the work demands received by workers by adjusting work resources to prevent neck pain symptoms.
