Abstract
Patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) can cause anxiety for patients' families. This study aims to identify factors that influence the level of anxiety among family members of ICU patients at RSUD Tarakan Jakarta. The research design used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach and Spearman rank correlation analysis. The sample consisted of 40 respondents, family members of ICU patients. The instrument used was a questionnaire to measure respondent characteristics, nurse therapeutic communication, information needs, and anxiety levels using the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS). The results showed a significant relationship between the type of medical diagnosis (P-Value=0.000) and nurse therapeutic communication (P-Value=0.000) with the level of family anxiety. However, no significant relationship was found between the type of family relationship (P-Value=0.656), length of hospitalization (P-Value=0.782), and information needs (P-Value=0.911) with the level of anxiety. This study suggests that hospitals provide training for nurses to improve their therapeutic communication skills to help reduce family anxiety in the ICU. This is expected to enhance the quality of care and support the well-being of family members during intensive care treatment.
