Abstract
Caring behavior plays a role in facilitating nurses' ability to understand patients. The implementation of caring is influenced by how a nurse shows compassion towards themselves first, then towards others. By understanding their own condition, nurses can understand patients better. If caring behavior is not well implemented, it can reduce the quality of service and patient trust. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between self-compassion and caring behavior of nurses in the inpatient room of RSUD Tarakan Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a sample size of 135 nurses in the inpatient room of RSUD Tarakan Jakarta. Data analysis uses univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of chi-square test show that there is a relationship between self compassion and caring behavior of nurses (p value 0.000; CI 95%). It can be concluded that the higher self-compassion of nurses, the higher caring behavior they exhibit. Therefore, nurses need to understand their psychological condition, namely self-compassion, so that they can feel and show compassion towards themselves, and then show compassion towards patients in the form of better caring behavior
