Abstract
The incidence of adolescents exposed to HIV/AIDS is closely related to a lack of knowledge. Knowledge is crucial for adolescents because, from it, they can act in accordance with what they believe to be true and understand its consequences. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of health education related to HIV/AIDS using a guided small group discussion method on attitudes toward the prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission among adolescents. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test format. There were 64 respondents in this study. The intervention conducted in this study was a guided small group discussion consisting of 5-6 students per group. The study found that the majority of respondents were 16 years old (42.2%) and female (65.6%). The average attitude score on HIV/AIDS transmission prevention increased by 2.48, from 11.50 before the intervention to 13.98 after the intervention. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significant difference in scores before and after the intervention. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant effect of health education related to HIV/AIDS using the guided small group discussion method on attitudes toward the prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission.
