Abstract
This study reveals the silencing of sexual violence victims in the film Penyalin Cahaya through Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. This method is used to analyze selected scenes from the film, applying muted group theory as an analytical tool. The study's results indicate that the silencing of sexual violence victims in Penyalin Cahaya reflects the dynamics of power, control, and injustice present in society and institutions. The film illustrates how victims are often forced to remain silent by existing power structures, both socially and institutionally. This research highlights the importance of increasing public education and awareness to understand and address issues of sexual violence. Additionally, the implementation of clear policies and procedures is necessary to protect victims and prevent future sexual violence. Sensitivity training for institutional staff and officials is also considered crucial to ensure proper handling of sexual violence cases. Psychological and emotional support for victims is also essential for their recovery. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and health professionals to develop effective strategies to address and reduce the silencing of sexual violence victims.
