Abstract
Background: Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of the joints that causes progressive loss of joint cartilage. OA is joint inflammation that causes pain, stiffness and swelling. Physiotherapy plays a role in overcoming problems in OA to restore body movement function, treating impairment, disability and activity limitation with the aim that patients can return to normal activities without any obstacles. Design: The research design carried out in this Scientific Writing Proposal is a case study. A case study is a type of descriptive analysis research, namely research that focuses only on one particular case to be analyzed or observed thoroughly. This research only focuses on one subject using secondary data, namely using existing data. The data collection method used contains patient data which includes: Patient identity, anamnesis results, physiotherapy examination, intervention and evaluation. Results: After carrying out 4 physiotherapy procedures with intervention using ultrasound modality, quadricep setting exercise and hamstring strengthening exercise, the results showed changes in the pain scale and an increase in ROM. Pain at therapy meeting 1 with a pain scale value of 6.3, meeting 4 with a pain scale value of 5.7. ROM at therapy meeting 1 was 110°, meeting 4 was 120°. Based on the implementation of physiotherapy that has been given, there is a decrease in silent pain, motion and pressure based on VAS results, increased ROM based on goniometer results and increased muscle strength based on MMT results.
