Abstract

The implementation of drug procurement that is managed ineffectively and inefficiently will result in drug shortages. In ensuring the availability of drugs, the Pharmacy Installation of Tarakan Regional General Hospital Jakarta always tries their best to meet the needs of drugs. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of drug procurement based on E-Catalog on drug availability at Tarakan Regional General Hospital Jakarta in 2023, focusing on the implementation, supporting and inhibiting factors and strategies used. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design. The results showed that the E-Catalog system used in drug procurement was not optimal caused by internal factors like inadequate quantity of human resources and external factors like technical constraints on the E-Catalog system, slow approval process, the length of drug delivery, and no drug stock at the distributor. The strategy can to add human resources in the drug procurement department to prevent work overload and intervene doctors in prescribing according to the formulary for cost efficiency. Moreover, improve system E-Catalog, execute the contract agreement, add more admin from provider, follow up distributors, and implement a kanban system in all pharmaceutical depots to improve drug inventory control.
