Abstract
Self-medication refers to the independent actions taken by an individual to address their own health issues. One common mild condition that can be managed through self-medication is gastritis. Gastritis is a stomach disorder, primarily affecting the gastric lining, and it can result from unhealthy lifestyle habits, high stress levels, and irregular sleep patterns. As a consequence, increased stomach acid production leads to discomfort in the upper abdomen. The research utilized a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, gathering data through proportionate stratified random sampling. The study aimed to investigate the association between student profiles and their knowledge levels related to self-medication practices for gastritis among students at the Faculty of Medicine, UPN ‘Veteran’ Jakarta Analysis of responses from 101 participants revealed that the majority had good knowledge (65.4%), but their self-medication behavior was only moderate (58.4%). Furthermore, the study found no significant association between respondents’ profiles and gastritis self-medication behavior (sig. >0.05), with a significance level of 0.185 for respondents’ knowledge. In conclusion, the profiles and knowledge levels of students at the Faculty of Medicine, UPN “Veteran” Jakarta do not significantly impact self-medication behavior among these students.
