Abstract
Hypertension in Indonesia is commonly found in primary health care services, with a general overview of hypertension issues in Bogor District in 2019 showing 1,313,562 cases among individuals aged ≥ 15 years. Hypertension therapy is a lifelong necessity, yet the 2018 Riskesdas Report indicates low adherence to hypertension medication. Education is one approach to improving medication adherence. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of education on medication adherence among hypertensive patients in Gunung Sindur Health Center, Bogor District. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a single-group pre-post test. The independent variable was education provision to hypertensive patients, while the dependent variable was medication adherence in hypertensive patients after 21 days of education. Analysis included Wilcoxon and Paired T-Test. The results show a significant effect of education on medication adherence (p < 0.0001) and a decrease in systolic (p < 0.0001) and diastolic blood pressure (p < 0.003) among respondents. Therefore, it can be concluded that significant education provision can influence medication adherence among hypertensive patients.
